Chicago’s most joyful, nature-filled summer experience for refugee and asylum‑seeking youth is officially here.

Every summer, REACH brings together young people from across Chicago’s north side for a season of adventure, friendship, and outdoor learning. This year, we’re thrilled to open registration for Summer Adventure Camp 2026, a free program designed for refugee and asylum‑seeking youth ages 10–18 who live in Rogers Park, West Ridge, Albany Park, Edgewater, and nearby suburbs.

If you know a young person who’s ready to explore the outdoors, build confidence, and join a supportive community, now is the time to refer them.

What Youth Can Expect This Summer

REACH’s Summer Adventure Camp blends outdoor adventure sports, environmental education, and leadership development, all within a supportive, multicultural community.

Four Weeks of Day Camps

Monday–Thursday, 10 AM–4 PM: Youth can register for one week or multiple weeks. Each session includes activities such as: Archery, Rock climbing, Kayaking & canoeing, Nature hikes, Fishing, Forest restoration, and Macroinvertebrate Investigations with River clean‑ups.

REACH will coordinate van or bus transportation based on where participants live. Some families may need to arrange transportation to the designated pick‑up location.

Three Overnight Camping Trips

Each overnight trip includes: Tent camping; Outdoor cooking; Habitat assessments; Kayaking, climbing, and hiking; Cooperative learning and leadership activities; and

Scavenger hunts, improv skits, and campfire fun.

REACH provides all transportation for overnight trips.

Family Picnic & Award Ceremony

A joyful end‑of‑summer picnic for all participating youth and their families where new learning is showcased and celebrated.

How to Register

We are now accepting referrals for prospective youth participants ages 10–18. .A separate referral form is required for each youth.

After receiving a referral, REACH staff will schedule home visits with each family to complete the registration interview and finalize paperwork. Enrollment is not complete until all forms are reviewed and signed by a parent or guardian. Once a family is fully enrolled, younger siblings ages 6–9 may also register for family‑friendly events throughout the summer.

If your agency would prefer a group registration day, we are happy to coordinate one.

Registration Deadline

Registration will remain open until June 5, 2026, or until all sessions reach capacity. Each weekly session is limited to 30 youth. All camps are FREE.
